Replacing a Fear of Life with Joy and Love Situation Tawny, a retired racing greyhound, had been adopted into her new home. However, at nearly eight years old, the only life she had ever known was that of a racing hound. Behavior Tawny was frightened by nearly everything in her new environment. The sight and sound of a roll of aluminum foil, a knock at the front door, or a bag of groceries coming into the house would cause this incredibly sweet and gentle dog to tuck her tail between her legs, turn, and rush off to hide in a place she had chosen as being safe. Assessment The first thing Leslie became aware of during the healing and communication session with Tawny was that her nervous system had become over-sensitized from the stress of her life as a racing dog. She needed to be able to heal and regenerate this part of herself. Then Leslie became aware of the sights, sounds, odors, and feelings that Tawny had experienced while being kenneled where she was kept. Her basic needs had been provided for, but it was a loveless environment. Then Tawny began sharing with Leslie specific events that had adversely impacted her emotionally. These experiences left Tawny feeling frightened and insecure. As Leslie communed with Tawny, the innate healing gift present whenever Leslie does a healing and communication session with an animal, began lifting out the emotional wounds as Tawny's healing process began. Result During the conclusion portion of the healing and communication session the caretaker was taught specific methods for facilitating the emotional healing processes that had been started in Tawny's session with Leslie. This included personalized healing practices to support the healing of Tawny's body-mind-spirit energy systems. The caretaker was also educated in a variety of specific ways for supporting the physical healing process of Tawny's nervous system and other affected areas of her body. These included diet, nutrition, specific nutritional and herbal supplements, and flower essences. After the session with Leslie it was apparent that Tawny had been assisted in releasing the traumas and emotional wounds from her former life. With a hopeful heart she willingly moved through her healing process. Tawny's caretaker did an outstanding job of supporting her body-mind-spirit healing process. Within a short amount of time Tawny became comfortable in her new home. It was as if she had lived there all along. Any memories of her former life as a racing hound no longer had any effect or power over her. She had been set free, able to feel comfortable in her own skin, and in her new, permanent, home. The caretaker writes: Dear Leslie, You are truly an exceptional woman. There is complete harmony in our home. Bless you, S.H., Reno, NV In The Greyhound Grapevine, Vol. 1, Issue 2, June 1999 Animal Communicator Leslie Morán, Critter Connection, is an animal communicator and therapist. S.H. says that because of Leslie she was able to figure out why Tawny was so frightened of everything. Leslie helped Tawny adjust to the idea of another dog coming into their home, and S.H. adopted a 10-year-old Afghan hound named Katie. |
